Registration Rules Prizes

Presentation

GameGune is Euskal Encounter's professional game competition zone. This year's GameGune edition will only held a Counter Strike 5vs5 competition that will give a total 32.000€ in prizes and will be a CPL Summer 2004 qualifier.

We're working on a GameGune website where you'll be able to find all the information about it. It will have a complete coverage of the competition as well. Until it is finished, attached you have all the information that we have been asked by IRC and email. Contact us if you have further questions.

Registration

Any team, no matter the nationality of each member, can participate in GameGune 2004. Every team interested in participating in Counter Strike competition must contact us, attaching detailed information about team's past year's evolution. We will choose the best 32 teams out of those interested to participate in GameGune 2004.

Rules

This competition is held in association with CPL, the following basic rules are completed with CPL's own ruleset; check it out here.

Participants

Every participating team must give before the first match a list of their players (6 max.) to the organization. Finally there won't be any age limit to play in our tournament but the teams that don't meet the requirements to play in CPL (Players must be 17 years or older and must have the required documents in order to travel to the USA (passport, visas, etc.)) will be able only to compete for the cash prizes, the autoberth will be for the best team that meets the CPL requirements. The team must show the required documents to the organization on the first day.

Important note concerning "infilters": "When a team wins a qualifier, they are only allowed to drop two players from their original team. They can continue to add players as alternates, but they must keep at least 3 of the core team members that won".

Entrance ticket price for GameGune will be 30€ each participant and gives access to all party zone, so participants can sleep at the partyplace and can reserve a seat for their PC if there are seats left.

Teams that already have an Autoberth for CPL only will compete for cash prizes, so autoberth will be for the next classified team in GameGune 2004.

Competition format

The number of competing teams will be 32, the matches will be decided using a "seeding" we will publish before the competition.

The competition is divided in 2 phases:

  • Group Stage teams will be divided in 8 groups of 4 teams. Each team will play against the rest of the teams on its group. The best 2 teams of each group will qualify to the next stage. Draw is a valid result in group stage matches. In case there's a point draw in a group rounds difference will be de deciding factor, if there's also a draw in round difference the drawing teams will replay their match.
  • Brackets Stage: double elimination stage, a team will have to loose twice to be out of the competition.

Matches

Players will have 20 minutes to set up the computer and warm up. If a team is not ready to play when the warm up is done they will have 5 extra minutes, if the situation remains the same they will loose the match by forfeit.

A match consists in 2 parts, one team will play one part on CT side and the other on T side (coin-flip). Each part will consist on 12 rounds of 3 minutes each, the team reaching 13 rounds first will be the winner. If there's a draw 2 parts of 3 rounds each will be played.
