Introduction

As in previous years, we've tried to get the best technology partners available in the current market, and I think that this year we did it fully. This year we have three luxury partners: Cisco Systems, in charge of providing network interconnection elements, Compaq, that supplies the servers for the party, and Euskaltel that provides Internet access.

The Party Network

This year we're going to have the fastest network ever assembled in an Euskal. The privilege of having Cisco Systems as a party sponsor allows us to access the most advanced network interconnection elements in the market. As if this were not enough, this year Cisco has decided to make an additional effort and provide their most advanced switches to configure our network.

We'll have 7 Cisco Catalyst switches5500 with 10 cards of 24 ports 10/100 each, and a 3-port Gigabit Ethernet card. Total we would have 240 ports 10/100 per switch, that makes a total of 1680 ports 10/100. These switches would be connected via G.E. over fiber to a central switch, a Catalyst 6509, that would also work as level 3 switch.

You must consider that your PCs will be directly connected to the switches, so the speed will be amazing. Overall, these switches are normally used as backbones in the ISPs, so you can imagine they can support a great part of net load. No doubt this year we're going to have the fastest and advanced network of all Euskals.

Regarding Internet access, we have two routers Cisco 3600.

Servers

As in previous years, we are provided with the sponsorship of Compaq that cedes several servers for the party. We'll have nine servers for the Euskal intranet, and also as game servers for trainings and competitions.

Internet access

As in previous years, Euskaltel provides Internet access to the party. This year we will have the incredible number of 34 Mb of Internet access.

Network Configuration

This year we have an exceptional sponsor that will configure all the network elements that constitute this year's Euskal. Counting with very advanced network interconnection items and increasing considerably the number of users, this years' configuration will complicate in excess. To make use of Satec's experience configuring very important networks will assure the correct operation of the network during the party.
