“Your own particular gadget”

 

Would you like to learn about the inner operation of mobile phones?
About “future” computers? About “gadgets” in general?
Would you like to develop a particular idea about an absolutely essential gadget for modern life?

Mondragon Unibertsitatea (MU) gives you the opportunity to delve into the previous questions within the “your own particular gadget” challenge.

Prizes


The winner will get:

 

  • A 250GB Xbox 360S Microsoft gaming console.
  • The Texas Instruments LM3S8962 ARM Cortex-M3 board which will be used for the development of the “gadget”.

The jury will consist of a University professor and an organizer of the Euskal Encounter.


Challenge agenda


Saturday 23rd, 13:30:
Distribution of the Texas Instruments LM3S8962 ARM Cortex-M3 board with Ethernet, OLED monochrome screen and microSD reader as well as the virtual machine where each participant will develop their own “gadgets”.
Workshop on general concepts and embedded system programming using libraries.


Sunday 24th, throughout the day:
The workshop speaker will wander around your posts to help with the resolution of possible problems. You will also be able to contact the speaker using the e-mail.


Monday 25th, 13:00:
Hand back the “gadgets” with the program loaded into the ARM Cortex-M3 board.


Monday 25th, 16:30:
Winner awards ceremony and demonstrations.


Inscription


You will be able to register in the challenge via e-mail or in the Euskal Encounter itself. The total number of participants is limited to 20 people. At most 10 people can register by e-mail, the remaining places will be allocated on the day of workshop (by strict order of arrival).

People who register for the challenge must have sufficient programming skills to develop "C" or "C++" programs; experience with eclipse platforms is also helpful.

 

Main screen projections

During the event different intro and demo projections will be made, including works for retro platforms such as 8bits or AMIGA.
